Pork and sweet flavors work really well that is why I rub the pork with pork loin seasoning that contains some brown sugar and spices.
The sugar not only flavors the meat but is also responsible for some color on your meat.
As opposed to Instant Pot pulled pork where the meat is tender due to the sauce and high pressure, Air Fryer pulled pork is made without sauce and drier than the Instant Pot version.
The meat is cooked and turned regularly so all sides can cook evenly and get done.
Pull the pork with two forks and it is ready to serve.
The Best Cut Of Meat For Pulled Pork?
You have several options to use for pulled pork:
- Pork shoulder – this is the best cut of meat for pulled pork. It is good for pulled pork because it has a high-fat content which is what you need to get juicy and tender meat that shreds easy
- Pork butt – also known as Boston butt is also great to use for pulled pork. Som even say that it is even better to use than pork shoulder because pork butt has more flavor, it is a tender piece of meat and has the perfect texture to shred
- Pork loin – you can also use pork loin but this is a leaner cut resulting in dryer meat
Air Fryer Pulled Pork Ingredients
To make this recipe you need the following ingredients. Put the following on your grocery shopping list:
- Boneless pork shoulder
- Pork lion seasoning
- Olive oil
- Fresh pepper
- Salt

How To Make Air Fryer Pulled Pork

In the meanwhile preheat the Air Fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
Put the pork in an Air Fryer cake barrel or cake pan so the juices from the pork remain in the barrel.
Set the timer to 1½ hours and turn the pork every 30 minutes during the baking time.
Check to see if the thickest part of the pork is 180°F else extend the cooking time by 15 minutes.
When the cooking time is done leave the pork inside the Air Fryer for at least half an hour. so the meat can rest.
While the Air Fryer cools down the pork continues to cook and relax. Then take the pork out of the Air Fryer and pull the pork using two forks.

How To Store Air Fryer Pulled Pork
When you make a big batch of pulled pork or have leftovers you have several options to store it.
First, cool the pulled pork completely before storing it.
- Refrigerator – store the pulled pork in the fridge when you want to serve it for one or two days. Store the pork in a resealable bag or an airtight food container
- Freezer – if you want to store it longer put the pork in a Ziploc bag or freezer-friendly food container. Label and store for up to 3 months
How To Reheat Pulled Pork
You have several ways to reheat pulled pork:
- Air Fryer – when you want to reheat pulled pork in the Air Fryer preheat it to 375℉ while you put the pork in a cake barrel. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons water and heat for 5 minutes or until. Stir the meat with tongs so all of the pork gets heated
- Oven – it is also an option to heat pulled pork in the oven. Preheat the oven to 350℉ and put the pulled pork and juices in a Dutch oven. Warm the pork until the internal temperature reaches 165℉ (when using a meat thermometer). Stir the pulled pork regularly and serve
- Instant Pot – you can reheat the pork and its juices in a bowl in the Instant Pot. Add one cup of water to the Instant Pot inner pot and put the pork in a bowl on a trivet. Select Manual or Pressure cook for 1 minute so heat the meat. You can also put the meat in the Instant Pot inner pot and add ¼ cup of water
- Slow cooker – You can reheat pulled pork in a slow cooker or Crock-Pot Express set it to the Keep Warm function on your pressure cooker or use the Saute option on your Crock-Pot. When you use the keep warm option it takes the longest to warm up the pork
